5 Benefits of Early Learning Programs

Guillaume Vidal

An early learning centre isn't just another name for a daycare. These programs accept young children that are yet school age and provide more than just basic care, they also provide a play-based education that will benefit your child's development.

1. Practice Social Skills

Social skill development is greatly improved when your child has access to a larger group of people to learn from. An early learning program surrounds your child with their peers so that they can learn to interact in age-appropriate ways under the watchful eyes of trained adults. Your child will be exposed to a variety of skills from basic skills like common courtesy to needed skills to navigate society, such as queuing up patiently.

2. Develop Cognitive Ability

Many programs have a strong educational focus, with some even offering early access to kindergarten. An early learning centre will use play-based methods to begin teaching basic numeracy and literacy, providing your child with a head start on their academic career in an age-appropriate and fun manner. These programs are also designed to foster the natural curiosity and inquiry process that resides in most successful learners.

3. Increase Emotional Resilience

Children must face age-appropriate challenges in order to develop the emotional resilience necessary. Early learning programs are designed to provide these challenges in a way so that your child can learn how to properly process both triumph and disappointment depending upon the outcomes. Challenges include both personal academic improvements as well as learning to navigate relationships with peers and educators in a healthy and constructive manner.

4. Benefit From Routines

A child thrives on daily routines, and early learning centres are built upon this fact. Your child will feel comfort, security, and safety by knowing the basics of how each day will go, from mealtimes to when different activities are scheduled. These routines will help your child build the healthy habits necessary, which is a set of skills they will carry with them for the rest of their life.

5. Learn Appropriate Independence

Many young children begin their education shy and dependent, but a quality early learning program can help begin to foster the independence skills they need. Spending time away from their immediate family in a safe and loving environment provides space for a child to begin experimenting with healthy independence in an age-appropriate manner.

About Me
Childcare for changing shifts

We have the trickiest time finding childcare for our baby, as we both do shift work. My husband is a police officer, and I'm a doctor, so we always seem to struggling to get someone to look after our son when we are at work at nights. We want to know that he is being loved and cared for even when we are not there. Luckily we have a great childcare service that is flexible, and sometimes we can leave our son longer if we need to work later or if emergencies arise. This blog is about juggling childcare for shift workers.
